News: Final Fantasy VII Coming to the PC...Again

Years and years ago Final Fantasy VII came to the PC (and so did VIII for that matter).  The game wasn't terribly well received because the thing was a terribly half-assed port, and left gamers of the time with the feeling that if they want to play a Final Fantasy game, they might as well get the console version.  Now Square-Enix is taking another kick at the can for a PC version of FFVII.

It looks like the game is getting some tweaks including cloud saving and achievements, but my primary concern is what they plan to do with the graphics.  The last time they brought the game to the PC, the visuals looked absolutely terrible.  Hopefully they will pretty things up for this release.  The news also suggests that the company is looking a little more closely at the PC platform going forward, and may be using this game to test the waters for how receptive gamers might be to their major releases on the PC platform.  Given how well their Eidos games have been doing on the PC of late, it certainly seems possible that this is the case.
