Welcome to the planet Shear. It's a roughly Earth-sized world containing a wide variety of flora and fauna, all of it inimical to human life. It's like Australia stretched out over an entire globe. Everything is either going to kill you deliberately or circumstantially.
So what could possibly be worth coming to such a choice hellhole of the Universe? Simple. Big game hunting. And we do mean BIG game.
Oh look, it's a video game blog. In an age rife with YouTube gamers something like this is almost quaint...

Review: WWE 2K15 (PS4)
Last year's WWE 2K14 was one of the best sports games (or sport entertainment games if you will) released for the previous generation consoles. Needless to say, after setting such a high water mark for the franchise any reasonable expectations would have to live up to, if not better, their previous results. Well… we have a partial success in this case.
Visually the design team did an excellent job of rendering the wrestling talent. All the wrestlers look even more real to life than they have in the past. The rings, crowds, and sets look a little sharper but not as drastic an improvement that the wrestlers have. That being said, there are some cases of the team reusing art assets from the previous game except not cleaning up anything. So we get storylines where last generation rendered Vince McMahon comes out to talk to current generation rendered talent. It would be like substituting the design of Mario from Super Mario on the NES into a modern Wii-U game. It almost feels though the sting of getting a yearly released game out the door meant that certain things would have to be skipped or left as is.

Review: WWE 2K14 (360)
The WWE has always had some memorable video games and with WWE 2K14 the gap between Wrestling Entertainment and center piece games like the Madden Franchise and the NBA2K franchise are disappearing. That's not to say that the differences are gone, but the quality level that we are seeing for a wrestling game definitely deserves some acclaim. The opening roster alone is quite extensive – as you compete, you will unlock even more wrestlers and fill out this crazy initial roster of 72 wrestlers (not including downloadable ones).

Review: BioShock Infinite (PC)
|
![]() |
I'm sure there are older, more technical examples of the Multiverse Theory in literature, film and academia, but I'm more familiar with Red Dwarf and the finale of Star Trek: The Next Generation. BioShock Infinite, so steeped in the theory, comfortably slots into the Top 5 interesting takes on Multiverse but the game lacks the ability to sky surf on the back of a crocodile so it's definitely not in top spot no matter how slickly the game presents the theory.

Feature: BioShock Infinite Review
Irrational Games has delivered a super nova game with BioShock Infinite, which can literally, and without an single iota of exaggeration, be described as an extended orgasm that ejaculates fun and social consciousness during every millisecond of playtime.

Review: XCOM: Enemy Unknown (PC)
One of the joys and miseries of being an old school gamer like myself is that I have a tendency to look at remakes as “been there, done that, got the T-shirt.” Too many are shameless cash grabs (The Bard's Tale remake stands out as one particularly noxious example). Few are a genuine improvement or re-imagining of the original title, which makes them all the more precious when they do come out. For me, one of the series that I both hoped for and against coming back as a remake was X-COM: UFO Defense.

Preview: BioShock Infinite (360, PC, PS3)
It's the goal of this preview that you should know as much about BioShock Infinite as you already do. If you actually come out of the experience knowing less then I think I've done you a service.
