Review: Metro: Last Light Season Pass (PC)

The Season Pass for Metro: Last Light has come out and it's an interesting little mix of stuff.
Rather than putting out large new chunks of story, 4A Games decided to go with smaller side stories
from the perspective of different characters and even different factions. Along with that, they've also thrown in some light sandbox play in the form of the Developer Pack and an endless wave mode in the Tower Pack.

The elements that made Metro: Last Light so enjoyable originally are still in effect here.

Visuals are still top notch, the writing and voice acting is engaging, and the gameplay is still fun. One might be forgiven for thinking that all of this, certainly the side story missions, could have been packaged in with the original game and unlocked instead of added on like this. The Season Pass is also notable for what it doesn't include, specifically the Ranger Mode add on. For something that was ostensibly supposed to be a Season Pass, the continued withholding of this mode is decidedly irritating.

For the Metro fan who's been holding out on picking up the DLC, the Season Pass will likely be a satisfying dessert course to the game's original feast. Others, however, should know precisely what they are and are not getting for their money.

The Good:
- Neat little side stories
- Nice “proving grounds” feel to the Developer Pack

The Bad:
- Still no Ranger Mode
