E3 2012: Rock Band Blitz XBLA Hands-On
I've always been a fan of the Rock Band series. Even to this day, I still download weekly DLC released by Harmonix to keep the experience fresh. Rock Band Blitz is the newest addition to the franchise and ditches all the plastic instruments that have cluttered our living rooms the past several years.
Played with only a controller, Rock Band Blitz feels similar in some respects to Amplitude and Frequency. For each song there will be five note filled tracks for vocals, guitar, bass, drums and keyboards. The note filled tracks in previous Rock Band games featured 4-5 notes on the highway, but Blitz features only 2 for each instrument. You cycle between the various instruments of a song and try to max out each instruments score multiplier Added to the mix are power-ups which help you get a higher score. Rock Band Blitz is a blast to play and at times can get pretty chaotic with so much on screen action going on at once.
The game will feature 25 tracks (including artists such as Blink 182, Pink, and Elton John) which will all be exportable to Rock Band 3 with no additional charge. In addition to that, all your old Rock Band DLC is playable in Blitz. Blitz ships in late summer of this year for the PSN and XBLA.
